Temperatures have dropped and there’s a definite chill in the air, not to mention the twinkle of Christmas lights! It is the most wonderful time of the year, that’s for sure… And we love a festive wedding! When building up the inspiration for this post we actually had way too much to squeeze into one piece, so decided to split it into two parts. In this first part, we will be looking at winter wedding decor, as well as wedding cake and flowers perfect for a winter wedding. All of this inspiration and more can be found on our Pinterest account.
Winter Wedding Decor
If ever there was a time to go all out with the decorations, it has to be for a winter wedding. We love a mixture of beautiful lights and glitter accents to give a beautiful, icy feel. As for colours we just can’t choose between snowy greys and rich, moody hues. Using elements from nature, such as pinecones and bare twigs can bring a rustic, natural feel to your decor whilst really amping up the winter vibe. White candles in winter scents are a lovely touch too.
Winter Wedding Cake
If you’re having a winter wedding because you’re a super Christmassy couple, then why not extend the festivities to your wedding cake? Festive cakes can still be elegant and classy, with just the right amount of Christmas themed decoration to give a nod to the season. We love white, frosty looking cakes, beautiful snowflake decorations and if you’re really going for it – tiny little gingerbread houses!
Winter Wedding Flowers
Again, there seems to be two clear ways to do your winter wedding bouquet – crisp, clean and icy; or rich, deep and moody. The icy bouquets use dazzling, classic white flowers such as roses, alongside seasonal berries like mistletoe and grey toned foliage like eucalyptus. The richer tones utilise deep burgundy and purple toned flowers, combining these with seasonal holly leaves and sprigs of pine. Winter is a great time to get creative and even a little wild with your bouquet, with fewer flowers around at this time of year, you can make your bouquet really pack a punch.
